Only a Few More Days!

Hey peoples,

Not sure if anyone has been reading this or not, but I think I should put it back into action. The newlyweds blog, I guess.

The wedding photos gallery at www.mergeweddings.com will expire on Thanksgiving, so if you want to place any last-minute orders, now is the time to do it! That's what's on my to-do list for tonight.

Jeff is working looooooong hours in preparation for a demo on Dec. 4. I miss him!

IKEA Assemblage

Fourth of July weekend was full of fireworks, but also full of apartment activities. Here are some shots of Jeff assembling an IKEA dresser for our bedroom.

I still have photos from the honeymoon to post...but for now, time to sleep!

We met with the talented Rachel tonight and schmoozed over popcorn and oozed over lovely photos! My groom is SO HANDSOME! Lucky lucky me.

Currently he is opening a big box from BB&B that was delivered today and getting confused over what a pilsner is.

We're Back :)

Hello readers!

It was a wonderful wedding! Thank you for all you've done and given and sacrificed to help us celebrate. :)

Jeff and I returned from London on June 8 and have been adjusting to temperature and time changes since then. We're preparing to get me moved this weekend, then to sell off most of my furniture from my Former Place of Residence.

You will get thank you notes before the next ice age... ;-) (i.e., sometime after the move is completed.)

Keep watching the blog for wedding photos from Rachel once they are published online (we see them for the first time in a week...so excited!!) and for photos from our honeymoon (these are your standard tourist snapshots a la J+J).

Early Mornings

Right now Jeff is assembling the card "wishing well" for the reception site.

I am drinking English breakfast tea and gearing up to finish the program and revise other designs. (I was going to just print these things on the RISO at work, but it desperately broke on Thursday. Thankfully, I have a backup venue...the printer near the Paper Source, where I bought the paper and have been bringing jobs from work lately.)

We have been readying the apartment this weekend for "homeyness" and my moving in. Yesterday, I created a little bureau for myself out of a short white bookcase and some pillow shams. Today we plan to bring some practical things over from my Fenway place to aid in nesting. It is so weird to think that Jeff and I will be married at the end of this week!

Not all has been smooth sailing. We received the favors last week, but they were not the design we ordered. So hopefully the new ones will arrive by Wednesday night...Wed. night will probably also involve assembling the design pieces before they get transported to the reception site on Thursday morning. And sometime in there we are having a relaxing icecream break with my parents, who arrive in two days.

My goal is to get up early every day this week so I will not get a migraine from getting up early on Saturday. ;-) Heh.

Can't believe it's so soon. I keep having odd wedding-related dreams or breaking out in mini bouts of terror, but Jeff says he's been as calm as ever.

Only two days of work this week, then the longest amount of time off that I've had since taking the job. Folks at work keep saying that they can't believe I'm still around, but I'd rather take the time off AFTER the wedding than before. It's supposed to be vacation, after all!!!

Well, time to get to work here at Wedding Planning Central, soon to be "home."

Parking near the church

This is another Helpful Info for Guests blog post. :)

The church website's parking directions and rates are now up to date. (These things tend to change on a regular basis.)

Traffic *shouldn't* be bad on a Saturday morning/early afternoon that weekend in Boston. The Sox are out of town, and it is not high shopping season. But you never know. There is a tendency for impromptu mayhem, and the church is located at the crux of the city. Just the other day I witnessed a motorcycle brigade streaming down Park Street.

The church will open to guests on May 31st at 12:30pm-ish.

For Those With Food Allergies, etc.

For those who've turned in response cards indicating a special diet or food allergy, rest assured that you will have something safe for you at the reception. There will be no nuts of any kind in anything (chef alerted), and a gluten-free salmon option. The wedding cake is gluten and soy free. I asked if it will be safe for those with nut allergies. I will post the baker's response below so you can determine if you can enjoy it, based upon the severity of your allergy. Working on finding out about lactose regarding the salmon option...

The favors are mints and are nut-free and not processed in a place with nuts. (The person I talked to on the phone is allergic to all kinds of nuts and says he eats the mints all the time, no problems.) The mints are not gluten-free however, so you two fellow gf-ers will have an alternative favor. ;-)

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Since eating out is usually a stressful and risky ordeal for me as a Celiac, I want to make sure you can relax and enjoy this meal if you also have food concerns.

Hi Jaimie,
The cake will be made without nut ingredients of any kind. However, there are nuts in the kitchen; I bake with almond extract and walnuts in other cakes, and we have nuts of many varieties in the kitchen for our family meals and snacks. The equipment I use will be washed in the dishwasher on the “sanitize” cycle before I bake your cake. Yes, the cake will be made with milk (and butter) and without soy.
See you soon,
Vita

For the Out-of-Towners

Hello everyone!

I can't believe that in two weeks, we'll be starting wedding-related festivities!

Just a head's up to those of you who are planning on being touristy. Tourist season has hit Beantown here, so things are selling out way ahead of time, especially Duck Tours. So if you would like to do that or other touristy things, you may want to buy your passes right now.

If you want to hit a whole lot of stuff wedding weekend, I recommend the Go Boston Card. I worked there, so I am biased.

I also just picked up this thing today called a 2008 Charlie Card Discount Book. Yum, discounts.

Certified Premarital

Last evening, Jeff and I finished up our final session of premarital. We "passed." Whoohoo! So anyway, counseling is over, and now we just have to wrap up details before getting hitched THIS MONTH. The time is going by faster, exponentially.

See you all before I know it!
